DofE Awards

By Daniel Thompson

I would like to take this time to talk about my Duke of Edinburgh awards, which I have done with my youth club. I have completed my bronze, silver and gold. I feel I have improved my confidence skills since I have started this award in 2008, that I can put a tent up myself or cook my own food. When I first started I was really nervous because I had not heard of the award before then but I was reassured by the staff and my mum to do my best, which I did. I have been to Kielder, the Lake District and Hadrian’s Wall. I feel really proud doing this award as I can now try new things and be very enthusiastic. While on my expedition the weather was very changeable, one day it snowed, rained and was sunny in the space of half an hour.
