Your finger looks bare

Your finger looks bare by Joan Philipson

Hello, my name is Joan. I was bought up in Newburn. Every Saturday night we went to the local dance hall at the British Legion. Nothing elaborate; just a piano, drums and fiddle. At half time they played records. This is where I met my husband, Alan, when I was 19; it was love at first sight. When it was near my 21st birthday, we were saying goodnight and Alan said my finger looks very bare. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We got engaged on my 21st birthday and had our party in the hall where we met. We were married 2 days after my 22nd birthday; June the 21st. We have a lovely daughter and three sons. We renewed our wedding vows on our 52nd anniversary. Our daughter in law arranged everything. A decorated Jaguar car, flowers and a three tier cake. I have a wonderful husband and now have been married 54 year and God willing we will be celebrate our Emerald anniversary in June. We have 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
