Stories of Success
Stories of Success was a programme of Digital Storytelling workshops funded by the European Social Fund through the LA7 Community Grant. Workshops were delivered at the Linskill Centre in North Shields and Chilli Studios in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Chilli Studios provides creative based services for people with mental health problems, promotes social inclusion and encourages social interaction. The group who met at the Linskill Centre joined the workshops through an open call out using social media.
Stories of Success focused on the themes of personal achievement, aspirations and hopes for the future. It provided an opportunity for participants to creatively communicate personal experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Workshops were led by digital storytelling facilitator Barrie Stephenson from Digistories with support from Curiosity Creative. The finished digital stories were all screened at personal celebration events for the 2 groups and focused on themes such as personal stories about mental illness, living with learning difficulties and taking part in residential trips to London for the first time.
