Bubbles

By Jesse Dewhurst

Jesse is a bubbleologist - she makes bubble displays. Her story tells us more about it and how it can be frustrating sometimes when children keep trying to pop the bubbles too early!

Bubbles

By Jesse Dewhurst

So, I make bubbles for a living; big ones, small ones, long ones, square ones, bubbles inside bubbles and bubbles that you can fit inside. I often make bubbles with children, this is both wonderful and frustrating; the look on their faces as the bubble starts to form and the excitement as they cant help themselves but run forward to pop it before its even had a chance to float, this is where the frustration comes in. if the bubble gets popped before its left the sticks I have to re-dip again and again and again and again. The children have fun but they never get to see any real bubbles but when you remember how difficult it was not to pop a bubble when you saw it and that wonderful excitement of chasing them, you forgive them for all the frustration of the popping. I love bubbles; I enjoy watching the bubbles change shape as they float away into the sky, seeing how far they can get and how big I can make them. If they don’t get popped I can make loads of bubbles just off one dip meaning more to pop and less wastage of bubble mixture. The best time to paly with bubbles is dawn when there’s dew on the floor and moisture in the air. As the sun rises over a festival and most people are asleep you can make ginormous bubbles and watch them float high up into the sky and away.
